There’s a tendency for human beings to be inclined to judging and condemning others for their sins or immoral actions. Intentionally or subconsciously, we serve out what we believe to be appropriate punishment to persons who commit some sin or do evil.
We forget the fact that we ourselves aren’t in any way perfect. Our “good deeds” are like mere rags before God.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
Romans 3:23 NLT
So why judge and condemn another person for his/her sins (no matter how terrible).
“Well then, should we conclude that we Jews are better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles, are under the power of sin. As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous— not even one.”
Romans 3:9-10 NLT
However, as Christians we are justified by Faith through the Love of Christ and His death on the cross.
“Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.”
Romans 3:24 NLT
Now, we as Christians are Christ’s representatives. We embody the Love of Christ, and our lives ought to show the proof of His unfailing Love. For God is Love and Love is of God. Christ taught us to show Love to everyone (friends, family, enemies nonetheless). “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them!”_Luke 6:32 NLT
As a Christian, “Child of Love”, how can you boldly judge and condemn another human being, and claim to have the Spirit of Love residing in you?
Even if it seems like they deserve it, even if they’ve caused a lot of irrevocable hurt, it’s never in our place or power to judge anyone.
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.”
Matthew 7:1-2 NLT
Remember Paul, yeah the Apostle of the gentiles, who wrote most of the books in the new testament, yeah him.
You know his story, how he persecuted the early Christians during His time. I’m very sure the Christians then would’ve wanted Paul seriously dealt with at that time.
Now, recall how God called Paul and changed his story, and he went on to spread the gospel to the rest of the world.
You ought not to condemn every sinner you come across. As a Child of Light, see the good in all things and all people. Hope for the best and pray for sinners, not condemn them. You don’t know what God could do with them. Don’t write them off so soon.
Remember you weren’t always perfect either. God cleaned us all up to be who we are today. Give another brother hope, through genuine Love. Don’t neglect the place of wisdom still in all things. “Be gentle as a dove and wise as a serpent”
On a closing note:
“Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.”
Luke 6:35-36 NLT
