Rihanna has made history in the world of fashion as she becomes the first black woman to head a brand under the group Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH).
The Barbadian singer, businesswoman and actress who is regarded as a pop icon and one of the most influential contemporary recording artists in the world, is to launch a fashion label with French luxury goods group Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH).
Rihanna whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty will launch a label called”Fenty” after her last name in spring 2019. Known for her acceptance of versatile musical styles and reinventing her image throughout her career, she will become the first black woman to lead a house under the LVMH brand, and also the first woman to create an original brand for the group.
The 31yr old Singer and diplomat is widely known for her unwavering fashion styles with millions of fan and has over 70 million followers on Instagram.
Her New brand, Fenty, will produce cloths, shoes, and accessories and it will become the first new label under the LVMH brand since 1987. The label will join around 70 brands already in the LVMH group, including Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Givenchy.
Rihanna who was enthusiastic about the new development in her career, said:
“I have been given a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
Rihanna also launched her own Savage X Fenty lingerie line in 2018 and her cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, fetched her £431 million which is almost 500 million euros in sales by the end of 2018.
Bernard Arnault, the CEO and chairman of LVMH, said Rihanna would be supported with a team and resources that would be needed, he added,
“Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader”.
