Life is full of footprints; your steps determine yours. Blue Ivy Carter is definitely following her parent’s steps. The eight-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z was one of several first-time winners at the 20th annual BET Awards, which took place over a virtual ceremony.
Blue appeared alongside her mum Beyonce on Brown Skin Girl featuring Wizkid, and Saint Jhn. Not only was she nominated for the BET Awards, but she also won the award to become the youngest person to win a BET award.
Not surprising that this isn’t Miss Blue’s first award, the song also won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriters’ Award at the 2019 BET Soul Train Awards and the Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration award at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards. It isn’t her first song either. She was also featured alongside her dad Jay-Z on the bonus track of his last album 4:44.
The BET Awards was such a huge night for mother and daughter, as Beyonce was also presented with the Humanitarian Award.
Marsai Martin was the youngest person to win a BET Award last year, at the age of 14. Other young acts like Keke Palmer, Yara Shahidi, and Willow Smith have also taken home the awards in the past.
Congratulations Ivy, this is just the beginning of great achievements.
